Suzanne takes you down to her place by the river where she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China...
"Portrait of Suzanne Douglass", Paul Matthews, 2010, Oil on Board, Board Size, 18 x 28 Inches. This is one of the 23 oversized Posters, New in 2010. Thank you Paul for your generous donation!
right: Paul with his 'Suzanne'.
Suzanne nurtures us. She is authentic and caring and of all the people I've know in my 30 years here no one loves this town and it's people more. Her own art shows that. (see her poster). Her kind voice and always a "hello' and gentle touch on the arm. What lesson this world could learn from our Suzanne. This is a painting of a local Icon and living legend from another equally brilliant artist and benevolent being, Paul Matthews. Thank you for existing and all you give us. ----Kevin Griffin
"Painting is a way of saying what can't be said any other way. Painting is a way of giving form to one's feelings. Painting, it turns out, is about responsibility in its original form—in the sense that it is a response to the visible world. Painting is my way of getting even with the world and making love to it at the same time. I paint to deserve to live. And—to quote my old friend Marty Washburn—painting is "my way of being with people".
